Manager, Quality Systems
COMPANY: Pacific Air Industries / Air Cert (a holding of Permanent Equity)
POSITION: Manager, Quality Systems
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
HIRING MANAGER: Dave LaVallette, VP of Quality
DESCRIPTION
The Company
Founded in 1959, Pacific Air Industries & Air Cert are the aerospace industry’s trusted partners for expendable airplane parts. We help airlines and other air-carriers keep their planes in the air by providing competitive pricing on our extensive inventory and shipping their orders the same day. We can achieve this level of service through partnership with our in-house FAA 145-repair shop, Air-Cert. Today, we are supported by a group of long-term investors that recently invested, looking to build on our strong legacy.
Quality has been critical to our 60 years of success at both Pacific Air and Air Cert. Quality will continue to drive our future growth. Notably, our customers recognize us as a high integrity brand. When we say we have a part at Pacific Air, we actually have it and we will ship it same-day. When we ship a part out of Air Cert, it is ready to go on a plane. We have achieved this success through meticulous attention to detail on behalf of our GM of Air Cert and Warehouse Supervisor. Now, we are formalizing the Quality role because we recognize the need to improve our Quality in lock step with the growth of our business.
The Opportunity
Your objective is to build systems that ensure we deliver what we said we would deliver every time and in an economic way. At a typical distributor, this involves sample testing and supplier scorecards. In our unique, surplus distribution operation, our “manufacturing” is our Quality system, which takes a heterogeneous set of inputs and makes them uniform and ready to sell, economically and at scale.
You will get involved in every department and help us build systems & tools to improve our consistency, effectiveness, policy-conformity, and efficiency. While you will notice every detail, you will prioritize your time and interpersonal capital to prioritize the biggest issues. You will seek out data to justify your decisions, and build datasets where they did not previously exist. Once you see an opportunity, you will figure out how to implement a solution that works for our team. Finally, you will manage our communications with key stakeholders, such as the FAA, ASA, Boeing, Airbus and CASE. In the end, you will help us become a better and better surplus distributor of aircraft parts every day.
To achieve these objectives, you will be supported by a knowledgeable team, a vastly improved technology infrastructure, based on the easy-to-use Salesforce web interface and a long-term minded investor base and management team.
An ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated success in partnering across departments to achieve Operations, Quality & Safety goals
Computer skills (MS Office) & experience to support management of our Quality Manuals
Experience & familiarity with FAA, CASE, ASA & other air carrier requirements a strong plus
A “get it done” attitude
Interested candidates should send a resume to jasonh@pac-air.com.
